My 2017 GSA calls for a 170/60-17. That means the 180/55-17 is 10mm wider (180 vs 170) and based on the aspect ratios (55 and 60) the cross section (distance from the tread to the bead) of the 180/55-17 is 3mm less making the total height of the tire 6mm less than the 170/60-17.
180/55-R17 tires are 0.43 inches (11 mm) larger in diameter than 170/55-R17 tires and the speedometer difference is 1.8%.
180/70-R17 tires are 0.94 inches (24 mm) larger in diameter than 190/60-R17 tires and the speedometer difference is 3.5%

Right. I have had the stock 180/55zr17s obviously, and we all know how they feel. I will say my feelings for comparison anyway! Fizzer with the stockers had great turn-in, decent lean angle abilities, and fairly good grip both upright and leaned.
